Insanity Maze II

Insanity Maze II
2 years...
At least, that's how long it feels like...
How long I've been "here" for...
For those of you who don't remember, my name was Jason...
Jason Mckay...
The one who bought that accursed game in the first place...
And now...
...Now I'm in Hell...
I can tell you...I'm just as surprised as any for how I was able to keep my sanity intact for this long.
There were times I thought "He'd" break me...
Days where I thought about giving up and surrendering to my inevitable fate...
But something kept me going...
And now? It all built up to lead me to this very day...
...The day I escape...
You're probably all wondering how I will pull this whole thing off, and to be honest, I'm not sure how myself.
But I've been planning and calculating for month's now, and I believe I can do this...I have to do this
The Gentleman may have me here, but I bet he didn't plan on his little prisoner being as smart as me!
When I get out...If I get out...He'll pay...Not just for what he did and IS doing to me, but for what he's done to others over the years! And for what he shall do to people in the future!
I can't let him get away with this...I won't!
He has been keeping me in this white room with vents around it, similar to that one room my character was taken to in the game. On the surface, there seems to be no exit within this room, but that didn't fit, since I WAS somehow brought into it. That was then I realized something...
The vents...While most were in fact used to emit the sanity gas (my name for the gas that makes you hallucinate), there WAS one in fact, that was there purely for show...
That...Was my exit!
It seemed almost too easy...Almost too coincidental actually, but I chose to ignore it. Life is about taking risks, and My life was on the line, so I had no choice really.
I waited for The Gentleman to leave...Where he went to, I dared not imagine, though the fresh screams of boys and girls alike offered a sort of confirmation. Some sounded younger, some older, and some about my age.
I will help you guys...Believe me...I'll do everything in my power to save you...That's a promise...
...And I never break a promise...
When he left, I quickly made my way around the room, analyzing it for the false vent, but...Unfortunately I didn't anticipate on the Gentleman doing one more thing before leaving...
He activated the gas.
A yellowish cloud engulfed the room, and I soon felt as if my eyes were uncontrollably watering. I was hardly capable to make out anything in front of me except a reddish blur that seemed to twist and distort itself as my vision slowly returned.
What was revealed when I was able to see once more, was a shocking sight...
It seemed as though I was within some sort of bloody, fleshy sack of sorts, with bodily innards scattered and set in piles along the room. The vents seemed to ooze out blood that slowly, and terrifyingly began to fill the room, the floor beginning to dampen and become harder to walk through.
I had to find the vent fast. But which one could it possibly be?
It was near impossible to find it now, but then I remembered something.
The particular vent I was looking for was shaped differently from the rest of them. It was slightly more rounded and had circular screws rather that hexagonal ones much like the others.
I wouldn't have noticed these slight differences if I hadn't been closely examining them every time I was tortured in here.
The Gentleman mustn't have anticipated such an observant captor like myself.
Good.
That just works better into my favor for when I escape this hell hole.
I quickly hopped up and shoved my fingers through the slits of the vent, yanking as hard as I could before the vent was torn off the wall.
Within the vent was shocking, but I was hardly phased by it as I have experienced much worse horrors over the course of my imprisonment.
Within it was a long, narrow, fleshy passage that seemed incapable of holding the weight of anything crawling through. It was as if I was within the belly of some gigantic beast, and I was making my way out.
Why the Gentleman let such a inadmissible flaw pass through for this "Inescapable" room is beyond me, but it doesn't matter anyways...
His stupidity is only aiding in my escape and his inevitable downfall by my hand.
I soon clambered through the vent hole and felt as if the fleshy passageway I was crawling through would give in at any moment.
The surface felt squishy and damp, as if I had just jumped into a bowl of gelatin and was crawling around in it.
The smell of it was rancid but bearable, having a strong scent of a rotting corpse.
The farther I made my way into this passage, the worse the stench got, but that was hardly the worst part of it, for what happened next was beyond any sane level of disturbing.
I began to witness humanoid shaped pushing from the outer edges of this passage way. I saw a small foot, and hand push from the outside and brush against my face. Then...
It started to increasingly get more and more disturbing, as a head began pushing against it from the outside. The worst part?
It was the head of an infant...
These infants began pushing hard against the passage way as the terrible, muffled screams of these children began to echo through the fleshy vent passage, like some sort of twisted chorus of pain and fear.
As the infants pushed harder and harder against the outsides of the passage, their cry's increasing in volume as well, I found it harder and harder to make it through.
I just want it to stop...Everything...
I want him to stop...
I want him to vanish from existence, as no human should ever have to endure such tortures as these.
As this disturbing scenario lasted for what seemed like an eternity, I eventually reached the ending of the passage, forcefully pushing out the vent in the way so I could exit that nightmare, a bright white light shielding any vision of what laid on the other side of it.
When I fell through, it felt as if I was just conceived by woman, feeling disoriented and confused for a few seconds before coming to my senses and realizing my situation.
I hadn't realized the gas effects wore off till about a minute passed.
So I managed to escape the "Inescapable Room", now what I needed to do now was...ah...Of course...
I had to find the exit in the enormous facility maze that I was within...
Typical...
Since I hadn't been in any other place but the room and a portion of the maze, I had no real route to follow, so I just went with my gut and walked forward, hoping for it to lead me someplace useful.
While walking forward, I came to a wall, and was given with 2 routes to take, one on the left, and one on the right.
Testing my luck, I decided on taking the left path.
While walking down the path, I came across a cell along the wall, with a child, I'd guess about 14 years of age sprawled up into the corner, sobbing quietly into their arms.
When I approached the child, they looked up a me, revealing a female face. The girl had caramel skin, deep brown eyes, and dark brown hair reaching down to her shoulders.
The girl looked at me with tears in her eyes, softly pleading for me to help her as she slowly crawled towards the cell bars preventing her escape.
I looked her deep in the eyes for a short while, and whispered "soon..." To her, before swiftly looking away, not able to bring myself up to look at the girl again, knowing the horrors she'd soon be facing.
I heard her faint sobs increasingly grow louder the farther I got from her, but eventually faded until I couldn't physically hear it anymore.
Still...
That didn't necessarily mean I couldn't hear in over and over again in my mind...
I would never be able to STOP hearing it from then on...
I made my way down the pathway till I reached an end with nowhere to go but through a door that read "Control Room".
This was my chance, I couldn't pass it up.
I had to enter the control room.
There had to be some sort of map for this place somewhere...
And I HAD to find it!
Not just me...But that girl...Everyone depended on me finding it.
I reached over to turn the doorknob and luckily, it was unlocked.
When I opened the door, my eyes were greeted with a large room that had control panels with several unfamiliar buttons and knobs meant for something I was not yet aware of. At the center of the room, was a large screen that revealed a shocking revelation to me...
The screen showed several sections of this maze, several cells with prisoners scattered about, some new, some old. I even saw my empty cell...
Oh God...
Did this mean the Gentleman was aware of my escape? Has he known this whole time?
Well, I wasn't going to wait to find out!
I frantically searched for some sort of map of the place. In my hurry, I accidentally hit one of the knobs on the control panel, and noticed something moving on the screen ahead of me through my peripheral vision.
I looked up and noticed that that on one of the sections on the screen revealed a wall being retracted into the floor.
It was then I realized...
This was no ordinary maze...
This was...
...A Labyrinth...
The literally was no escape from this maze...
No...
NO!
I was in the control room! I had total control of this maze! I can MAKE an exit!
I...I can even release these prisoners...
That girl...
She'd be free...
But...
Doing that would surely tip off the Gentleman...He'd know I had escaped...And then...He'd make my life hell...Or worse...
I don't care of the consequences...These people...That girl...They deserve better...I must do this!
I quickly pressed some buttons and turned a few knobs after some hesitation, and soon noticed several the cell doors opening in different sections of the screen, their respective prisoners pouring out and scrambling down different passages.
I even spotted the girl quickly escaping, not wasting any second to leave this wretched place.
She was free now...
They all were...
Now, it was time for me to leave as well.
But I still needed that map.
Thankfully, all this chaos gave me some more time to look, and sure enough...
I found it in a compartment located on the far right of the control panel.
The map revealed that in order to get to the exit, I had to travel through the caged wall section of the maze, make my way through what seemed like some sort of multi-sided room, and then pass through some sort of place that was indicated to have been plated with mirrors. When I passed these 3 things, I had to reach the elevator, which was my ticket out of here.
As soon as I grabbed the map, I decided I had to get the hell out of that control room, as I didn't want to overstay my welcome and get caught by you know who.
But before leaving, I spotted a switch blade in the drawer as well as a 5 digit code that was "4-5-1-10-8" and thinking they may come in useful later, picked them up and left.
As I exited the control room, I looked back, and caught one final glimpse of the control room.
But when I saw it, it flashed a horrifying scene within it.
What it showed was a man tied down by spirit like chains along the walls, trapped, bound to this bloody, flesh like room.
I looked away in horror for a second, and when I looked back, it was normal again.
As I made my way back down the long passageway, I passed by the empty cell of that girl. A small smile creeped up on my face at the thought of this girl being free from pain and torture...The kind I had to endure...
I wouldn't want that girls innocence shattered, like mine was.
I made my way back to the 2 way path, and took the right path instead, as the map instructed.
This passageway was drastically changed in tone to the left one. There were bloody hooks hanging from the ceiling.
Some of the hooks had bodies attached and dangling from them.
Some bodies seemed to have been there for years, already decaying, while a few seemed new, with fresh blood dripping down to the ground.
New or old, the bodies let of a rancid smell that engulfed my nostrils and caused my face to contort in disgust.
I quickly walked down the path so I did not have to endure that smell any longer.
I pushed aside the bodies hanging in front of me as I moved forward, stepping in the pools of blood across the floor.
When I passed through them, I was greeted with yet another series of paths to take, 2 to choose from.
I read the map, and it instructed me to go to the left path to get to the caged walls section of the maze.
As I walked down the left path, I felt the ground getting steeper and steeper the farther I walked down it, becoming more and more slanted. It took some effort to keep myself balanced, but I made it to the end, reaching a cage door, which I pushed open slowly.
When I push the cage door, the clank of the metal of the door, against the metal of the wall alerted several of the Hollow people within cage cells both along the walls, and under the floor.
They began to shriek in unholy unison, which caused my head to vibrate, and my ears to bleed slightly. I quickly put both hands to my ears to block the sound, but the best it did was muffle it.
As I began walking across the cage floor, some of the prisoners underneath began leaping up and grabbing at my feet through the holes of the cage underneath me, causing me to trip up.
I kicked at them, but they wouldn't let go...
So...
I pulled out the switchblade I had retrieved from the control room, and plunged into the arms of each one, causing them to loosen their grip long enough for me to escape their grasp.
As I got up, I backed off away from these prisoners, who continued to try and leap up to grab at my ankles. I kicked at their arms as I backed up into one of the cage walls.
That was a mistake...
When I backed up against the cage wall, a Hollow came from behind me and began choking me through the cage.
I struggled as I felt the air escape me.
I quickly took my switch blade and stabbed the Hollow in the arm, allowing me to break free.
The Hollow shrieked in pain, and then muttered something I barely caught sound of.
He said...
"Bound...By...Fate..."
Once free, I backed off a bit, but made sure to stay away from the walls.
Every one of the Hollows in this room were savagely clawing at the air in my direction, hoping to get their hands on my. They didn't have eyes, yet somehow knew exactly where I was.
I slowly started to make my way down the path, avoiding every attempt the Hollows made in trying to catch me, my eyes beginning to water up.
As I made it to about midway down the cage path, I spotted a small, frail, yet horrifically grotesque looking creature making it's way towards me...Out of any cage!
It had small patches of hair sticking out it's head, pure black eyes, and a pale skin tone, that seemed wrinkled, with the skin caved in, outlining each individual bone in this creatures body.
As the creature came towards me, i readied my switchblade, backing up away from it as it closed the gap between me and it.
As it came towards me, i caught a glimpse of what I think was an expression of confusion on it's face as I brought up my switchblade, and before I knew it, I had plunged the blade straight through the creatures chest, directly into its heart.
I felt a surge of adrenaline overcome me, and found myself continually stabbing it over and over to make sure it was dead.
I had lost all sense in that short moment, and simply gave into the rush.
I must have stabbed it about 14 times before the adrenaline subsided.
When this happened, I had realized just what I had done...
...and looked at the body in horror...
It...It was her!
It was the girl I set free...
I...Murdered her...
What have I done?
She was so young...
She...She wasn't her!
Please...You have got to believe me...
I didn't know...My mind...
It...It was lost! I couldn't see!
Forgive me!
...
I wanted to save her from the Horrors the Gentleman would inflict on her...
...But it was me she should have been safe from...
...Why? Why did this happen?
Why the hell did this have to happen?!
This is all my fricking fault!
I shouldn't have acted so hastily...
I should have thought before reacting...
This is all my fault!
Dammit!
I'm sorry...
I'm so sorry...
I'll make it up to you...Somehow...
I picked up the lifeless corpse of the girl, placing her head on my lap as I caressed her hair, a bit, while closing her eyes.
Somehow...
I stayed there sobbing into her hair for about 5 minutes, completely ignoring the shrieks of the Hollows around me.
When I looked up, I caught a glimpse of what looked like a hooded figure with a shadowed face, obscuring his features.
I rubbed my watery eyes and looked on again, and the figure was gone.
I decided to go on, continuing my escape plan.
What I had done today, though...
I'd never be able to forget it...And I wouldn't want to...
I must be reminded of what I had done...
I must endure that torture...It is my Penance...
And it will serve as a reminder to me...I must not lose myself again...I mustn't...Mustn't become like HIM...
I walked down the path and found a door on a steel wall that contrasted from the rest of this portion of the maze, as it wasn't a part of the cage, which confirmed it was the exit I must take.
I opened the door slowly, peaking through to make sure nothing was up ahead. I spotted nothing but an empty corridor. It was pretty bright, with shiny tiling along the walls and floor that were perfectly pieced together like a puzzle to form this corridor.
I cautiously walked down the path, half expecting something to happen, but nothing did. As I walked down the path, I observed it, analyzing every detail.
Once reaching the center of the corridor, my eyes began to burn, watering and blurring as I vigorously rubbed at them.
Through my blurred vision, I was able to make out the the image of everything around me shaking and vibrating violently.
When my vision cleared, I saw that each and every tile on the walls were shuttering in place, a few tiles falling out and landing on the ground.
Once these tiles hit the ground, the ground caved in underneath me, all the tiles on the walls collapsing in on itself.
I felt myself plummeting an unknown distance downward.
I felt my life flash before my eyes as I was certain this was my final moment in earth...
Then...
I felt as if I made contact with something.
I saw the rest of the tiles fall down into a pitch black abyss while I tried to process exactly what I was seeing.
Everything around me...
It...It was terrifying.
I found myself in a massive pit, skulls of many victims embedded into the earthly exterior. A single bridge connecting from the door I came through, to the exit dangled weakly across this huge abyss.
The thing about that bridge though...
I didn't notice it right away, but...
It...It was made up of the nude, mangled, bloody bodies of men and women alike. All being held together by nothing more then their intestines, connected...blood shared and smeared across each body as if they were a fleshy canvas.
It...It was horrible...Grotesque...Disgusting...
The worst part...These people were all still alive. Every small movement I made caused one to cry out in sheer pain and agony.
I felt shills run down my spine as realization that I would have to walk across this bridge of bodies struck me.
I needed to cross it though. There was no choice. I needed to if I wanted to escape this place.
These people...I feel bad for them, but there is no saving them...There isn't.
They are practically dead, in fact, death seems like the best option for them...Not me though...
I HAVE to get out of here...I will not accept death, I HAVE to escape...
I have to live...
I began making my way across the bridge of bodies, realizing that a few tiles scattered along their bare bodies.
They each let out an unholy shriek with every step I took across them.
I felt bad...I really did...But this had to be done. I couldn't let my feelings get to me...I had to press on.
As I placed one foot after the other at a steady pace against the exposed flesh of each individual, I realized that each one was no more than 16 years of age.
These helpless people, mere teenagers...
All connected by flesh and blood, dependent on each other to hold them together so that they don't plummet to certain death.
These people were like me. I could have easily become one of them...If...
If I didn't escape.
But I DID escape.
And I can't become like these people...
I can't let all my hard work be for nothing!
I walked down the limp bridge of bodies at a much quicker pace.
Eventually I made it to the end, and reached the door that needed some sort of code to open.
I then remembered that code I found at the control room, and immediately pulled it out.
I typed in the code, which was "4-5-1-10-8" and a red light on the door turned green, opening up and revealing to me a nice, padded room that had 5 doors lined up together in front of me.
Each door had a letter on it, the letters in order of each door spelling out "G-E-A-H-N".
There was also a large "C" on the wall to the left of the room I was within.
I was confused for exactly which door lead out of this section of the maze and into the next, and the map wasn't helping at all either, so I just chose one and hoped for the best.
I chose the "G" door, approaching and opening it.
When I opened it, I was led into a room that was exact in appearance to the one I was just in.
The only difference was the doors were lined up in the order of "C-E-A-H-N", with the G on the left wall instead.
While deciding which door to enter next, the one I entered through closed and locked itself, leaving me with no choice but to pick another door.
I decided to pick the "E" door this time, and when I entered through it, just like last time, the room looked the exact same, with the order of the doors being the only difference.
I tried "H" next, and sure enough, the same occurred.
"N"? "A"? Same thing.
It seemed like I was just walking in a huge circle.
No matter which one I picked, I was always lead to the same place.
As time passed by I began to grow more and more desperate to get out of this place.
As hope began to dwindle, I considered giving up, allowing the Gentleman to take me back.
I shouldn't have been thinking that, but I couldn't help it.
I was on the verge of calling it quits, when I decided to enter room "C" again, and when I did, I was greeted with a series of stairs leading up to a door.
This struck with new confidence and hope, and I ran up quickly to the door. When I entered, I was greeted with a similar room, as the one before, but this time, there were only 4 doors present, reading "A-G-E-N" from left to right, with a H on the left wall.
In my excitement, I quickly chose the "N" door to enter next, and when I did, I was lead straight back to the beginning.
No...NO! Not again!
It was beginning to get increasingly frustrating.
I entered the "C" room first, and it leas me to the "H" room.
"C-H" and then the other 4 letters.
There had to be some sort of pattern to this that I was missing.
Hm...
Maybe...
Maybe it was some sort of message, maybe it spelled out some word!
"C-H" and then "N-G-E-A"
Hm...
Wait...
"C-H-A-N-G-E"
THAT'S IT!
The pattern is CHANGE!
But...I don't get it?
Ah, it doesn't matter! I know how to escape this section of the maze now!
I immediately went through each door in the order I discovered, each one leasing me up some stairs until finally I reached one final door, that had each letter written in order on it.
"Change"
I opened the door and was greeted with a most horrifying sight.
I was in a large dome room.
There was blood and guts all around the room, and chains around the walls that lead to the center of the room, which revealed a horrible sight before me...
A man. In his 20's I'd presume, was bound by these chains, kneeling there in the center of the room within a puddle of his own blood, mutilated but still living.
As I approached the man, I noticed scars on his chest that wrote a message on his beaten and weak body.
It said:
"The Key to my Heart, is the Key to freedom"
It didn't take me long to realize what I had to do.
I pulled out my switchblade and gazes at it for a couple of minutes, contemplating.
To get the key, I had to pry open his chest. There was no other options in escaping this room of horrors.
But can I actually do that?
This man.
He's been through alot already.
He's suffered enough.
I can't do this...
But...If I do this, it would end his suffering.
He would free from this torture!
What. Do. I. Do?
I can't just do this, I'm not a killer. Right?
I wouldn't be able to forgive myself if I did this.
...But...I also wouldn't be able to forgive myself if I did all of this, only to bail out when I'm so close!
...In the end...I think I could live with the guilt of killing this man.
He's practically dead anyway.
I wouldn't forgive myself if I gave up.
I held my switchblade firmly, and with some hesitation at first, finally worked up the guts to stab him, causing him to grunt.
The blood from the wound sprayed and covered my face and hand.
When this occurred, I don't know what happened.
I...I lost it.
I began to stab him multiple times, slitting his throat and wrists as I gouged out his eyes.
I then stabbed him in the shoulder and left the blade there as I shoved my fingers in the hole in his chest, prying it open as I shoved my hand in there, pulling out the key as well as his heart.
After that, I came to and realized just what I had done...
The worst part about all this, was I barely felt anything from it, no sympathy or anything.
And that's what scared me the most.
I've been here for so long, tortured countless times by the Gentleman. I now barely feel anything because of it.
I don't like that...
What am I becoming?
I'm a monster!
I stared at the heart in my hands, and dropped it to the floor, keeping the key within it, as I bowed my head in shame for what I had done.
I made my way to the other side of the door, leaving the lifeless body of the man I just killed chained there as blood spilled from numerous parts of his body.
I raised the key up, and noticed how red with blood my hands were.
Blood was on my hands now...
So why didn't I care?
I placed the key in the lock, and turned it, unlocking the door.
When I entered through, I took one quick glance backward to catch one last sight of the man I had butchered...
But when I did, I spotted a hooded figure standing over the mans corpse.
It was the same figure that I saw when I killed that girl...
I reached out to try and talk to it, but the door closed behind me.
I clenched my fist, contemplating my dark deeds, as well as the identity of that hooded figure.
I then presses on, checking the map on what route to take in order to reach the last portion of the maze before finding the elevator, and my ticket out of here.
The map revealed that I had to take 2 lefts, find a set of stairs that lead to the basement, and the mirror section of the maze.
I followed the maps instructions.
I walked down the dark hallway I was in, till I reached the first left turn about 10 meters away from the dome exit.
I walked down that second hallway and realized how quiet it was.
There were no signs of danger anywhere, and you know what? It didn't bother me.
I wasn't afraid of any chance of danger.
I wasn't scared...Not anymore.
I...Changed from the coward I was before.
No longer shall I give the Gentleman pleasure in my fear.
No...I will starve him of it!
I passed the second left turn I had to make down the hallway, and made it to the set of stairs leading to the basement.
It was a large set of stairs. I couldn't see past only 10 steps down, it was too dark.
I began walking down carefully, one step at a time so that I don't trip and fall down all these flights of stairs.
It was pitch black.
It seemed like forever, so when I finally reached the bottom, A burst of excitement caused me to utter a sharp yelp sound.
I still couldn't see a thing, so I felt around for the door that should be here.
Suddenly, a series of lights lit up, revealing where the door was, and I stood in front of it, allowing sensors to detect my presence and open the door.
I entered into a room with what I would assume was hundreds of mirrors.
I walked around, only being able to see my reflection at every turn.
Everywhere I turned, there was a mirror, and my reflection blocking the path.
I walked and walked, and every time, I always ran into a mirror.
There seemed to be no exit in this "fun" house!
I kept moving though. Because I knew I would find it!
I know I will!
And I'm not looking to give up anytime soon!
As I kept walking, I noticed that the mirrors around me were beginning to close in, encasing me in a circle.
I was trapped!
That wasn't the most disturbing part though...
My reflection was gone in each mirror.
And what replaced it...
...
...The hooded figure!
I began to back up slowly, looking around as I saw the shadowed out face aimed towards me.
As I backed up, I bumped into something.
I froze.
I didn't want to look back...
Unfortunately, I didn't need to...
The figure walked around, facing me, his face still blacked out under the good.
"Hello Jason" he said to me.
I felt a chill down my spine.
This figure...
It made me feel incredibly uneasy, and I don't know why.
"Who...You are you?" I asked him.
"Easy...I'm not here to hurt you...I have things to reveal to you...If you are interested in hearing..." The figure said to me, dodging my question.
"...What things?" I asked.
"You are well aware of the Gentleman, Yes. However...You aren't aware of how he came to be...Are you?" He asked me.
"N-No..." I asked.
"...Would you like to know?" He asked me, as he turned his head and gazed into a mirror.
"...Yes" I replied, listening intently.
"He...Isn't mortal, you know this. He has been around for centuries, preying on men and woman of any age.
He first came to be in the late 1500's. He was a lawful man, known then as Thomas Black.
His wife, Edna Black. She...She was known for her unusual medical techniques to heal others.
The villagers at that time grew suspicious of her.
This suspicion grew into fear.
Eventually, something...Happened.
One of her medical techniques resulted in the death of a child.
This gave the villagers the perfect excuse to denounce her as a witch, so they could have her executed.
This worried Thomas deeply. Especially since he was the cause of the child's death. He gave his wife the wrong ingredients for the medicine by mistake, and it resulted in the child's suffering.
He never spoke a word of this. He was too ashamed.
His wife was beheaded because of his clumsy mistake. Yet...
Somehow he convinced himself that it wasn't his fault. He blamed those who killed his wife.
Eventually, he began to grow hatred and resentment for everyone.
He started to dabble in the dark arts, hoping to use it as a way to act his vengeance on everyone.
He grew insane with these thoughts.
Eventually, he dwelled too far in the darkness. He discovered something...
The secret to immortality.
He saw this as the perfect opportunity to forever act his vengeance on every human being he could.
However...It came with a price.
In order for the spell to work, he had to make a deal with death himself...He had to sacrifice one of his senses to have this immortality.
...He chose sight.
Because he no longer saw the world as clearly as he use to anyways.
He gouged his eyes out with his bare hands.
When the deed was done, he was given immense power. Power beyond mortal comprehension.
He no longer saw the world how he use to, but he was now able to see it for what it really was, a twisted, dark place full of pain, and misery.
He was able to keep his immortality for 10 years only, until he reverted to dust.
This upset him greatly, so he made another deal with Death...
If he brought a worthy enough person within these 10 years to Death, to be his Messenger, the Gentleman would get to keep his immortality for another 10 years.
This Messenger would serve as the apprentice to Death, replacing him after the 10 years was up. The Messengers weren't immortal though, if they died, the Gentleman would have to find another or else the deal would be broken.
This became a tradition between the Gentleman and Death. The deal has never been broken. And now?
It's time for a new Messenger." The hooded figure said.
"But...Why are you telling me this?" I asked him, to which he stayed silent, only pointing forward.
The mirrors suddenly spread apart, revealing the exit.
I stared down the exit with hopeful eyes.
"But wait, who..." Is all I could say before realizing the hooded figure was gone.
I shrugged it off as the sight of freedom overshadowed my suspicions of that figure.
I ran straight for the exit, opening the door and running down the hallway.
I saw the elevator straight ahead of me. Tears began trickling down my eyes, but this time, they were actual tears of joy rather than effects of the sanity gas.
I made it to the elevator, closing the door with the press of a button.
I look for the button that leads the elevator outside of this place, and hit it eagerness.
I feel the elevator lifting off the basement floor and begin ascending.
While waiting for it to reach the roof, I listen to the music being played in it.
But something was off about it.
It sounded eerie and distorted.
It was beginning to unnerve me.
Something was wrong.
I could feel it.
Suddenly I heard an all too familiar voice over the microphone in the elevator.
"You've found your freedom..." The Gentleman said, and suddenly I felt the elevator violently shake, and before I knew what was happening, I felt the elevator begin plummeting down to the ground.
When it hit, everything went black...
...
I woke up in a pure white room, walls and floor completely padded.
I looked around dazed and confused.
When I tried to move my body, I realized it wasn't working.
I began to panic, thinking I might be crippled from the fall.
Then I looked down and l realized I was wearing a straight jacket.
I was confused at first, but then a door in front of me opened and several people poured in.
I recognized each and every one of them!
They were my family!
Mom, dad, my brother and 5 sisters!
My friend James was even here! And that girlfriend of his! The one who always wears red and white clothing!
"MOM! DAD! EVERYONE! I'm so glad to see you guys! It's been so long! I've been trapped in that "hell" for so long!" I yelled at them with sheer joy, completely forgetting about my restraints.
"Jason..." My dad said.
"God! I thought I'd never make it out of that maze! Thought I'd never see you..." I said before being cut off by the crying of my mother.
"Wh-What's wrong?" I asked.
"Jason...There...Never was any maze..." My dad said.
"...What?" I asked in disbelief.
"When you played that game...It...Changed you. You were so scared, you went insane. You attacked your siblings, parents, even me!" James said to me.
"What...No...NO! That can't be! I've been gone for 2 years!" I said, shocked.
"No, you've been "here" for 2 years. In this insane asylum!" My dad said.
"NO! THAT CAN'T BE! The Gentleman! He..." I said before being cut off by my mother.
"THERE WAS NEVER A GENTLEMAN JASON! ENOUGH WITH THIS!" My mom said, tears streaking from her eyes.
"No...It...It can't be...I'm not crazy! I'm not crazy!" I said, muttering that last word to myself every passing second.
"Well...Leave you be Jason, let this news sink in..." My dad said as each person began exiting the room, James being the only one to look back.
Suddenly I spot an all too familiar face enter the room...
The Gentleman...
"NO NO! IT'S HIM! HE'S HEAR TO GET ME! HELP! SOMEONE!" I yelled out to deaf ears.
"Cmon everyone, let's just leave him...He's a lost cause..." I heard my dad say, which made me go silent, feeling shock and hurt.
"They...Don't believe me..." I said to myself as the Gentleman laughed.
"Why should they? You're crazy Jason" The Gentleman said to me.
"I saw the way they stared at me...With resentment. They don't trust me...They...They don't love me..." I said.
"I did see, but really, who would love such a pathetic nave like you?" The Gentleman said, but I just ignored him.
So this is it huh, after all I've been through to get back...
I'm not even wanted...
Maybe...
Maybe I should do them all a favor and end it...
"Just...Just take me...I don't care anymore. Kill me! Do it now! I want this pain to end! Do it! I beg you!" I said to him, which made him let out a maniacal laugh.
"Death...It is the one thing that everyone fears...Everyone despises. While some try their hardest to avoid it, others just can't get out of it's way.
So tell me? Why is it that in their last moments of life...When they realize their inevitable, and have nothing to live for anymore...Why is it then, that they accept Death's loving embrace?
Why does it take extreme measures to get a person to accept their fate?
Death is everyone's destiny, so why hide from it?
The meaning of life? That's a question that has boggled the minds of everyone on this rotten, forsaken planet.
No one can truly say the answer, but yet...It is so simple....
We all live...To die!
You cannot avoid that. No one can escape that truth.
Life is a lie, and death is the one truth in it.
That is why people despise it.
They are afraid of the truth. They can't accept it. They'd rather divulge themselves in Life's beautiful lies then face the harsh realities of the world.
But the truth is...That is exactly what the world is...Harsh.
Life is harsh, no matter how much you cherish it.
Death...Is your only Salvation!" The Gentleman says to me.
"What do you even want with me now? Don't you see...You've won! I even offered my life to you! What more could you want!?" I asked him, when I suddenly noticed the hooded figure walk into the room.
"What he wants...Is to offer you a choice...A choice for change.
You see Jason...This whole experience was leading up to this one moment...Your destiny...is Death!" The Hooded figure says, extending his arm to me, revealing nothing but lingering strips if flesh on exposed bone.
I considered the offer for awhile.
No one even cared for me anyways, what did it matter if I joined these guys?
Besides...Like they said...It IS my destiny!...
"I...Accept!" I said, and once I did, the gentleman let out a smile, before puncturing my eyes with his thumbs, while dragging the skin from my lower lip over my mouth, stitching it together to create a makeshift surgeon mask.
I yelled out in pain.
The Gentleman then placed a pair of goggles onto my face, covering the two holes in my head caused by him.
"Change...It is among us!" The Hooded figure said as the Gentleman smiled gleefully.
So that's how it all happened.
Jason Mckay is dead now...I am now reborn.
No more shall I suffer under the tortures of life, for I am destined for Death!
They all shall know my power very soon! They will all pay eventually!
I gave them my trust, my love, my hope! And they discarded it!
Now, when they beg for mercy...
When they plead for forgiveness...
Their prayers shall fall on deaf ears...
...
For The Messenger of Death has written their fate!
